Unlike a typical volume build, where you get a standard design that often comes with compromises once you actually try to live in it, Oakstand begins with true architect-designed plans with a great layout and orientation from the outset. The customisation process gave me the freedom to tailor the design without compromising the architect's original intent, focusing on functional adjustments, finish selections, and upgrades for a home that is specific and uniquely tailored to me.

It's an intricate process that can easily go off track in the wrong hands, but after seeing the quality of Oakstand's builder and the extensive range of finishes at the Anson Street display, I felt confident I could push for the exact design elements I wanted and that they would deliver. The design introduces diverse dwellings for different lifestyles and stages of life, and uses a consistent architectural language to establish a sense of cohesion and community. Drawing inspiration from its rural setting, homes are carefully considered in their orientation, planning and relationship to landscape. Floorplans maximise natural light, outlook and connection to private open space. The varied material palette of face brick, natural timber, textured cladding and muted roof forms captures the warmth and character of the region. Variations in built form and streetscapes celebrate individuality while maintaining overall cohesion.

It’s incredibly rewarding to see this masterplanned community taking shape. Watching architectural ideas evolve from drawings into places people love reinforces the importance of thoughtful, place-based design and the lasting value it offers those who’ll call Alchemy home."
